Someone finally makes a movie about Nic Cage’s crazy-ass life

I still haven’t seen Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, as all the bad word-of-mouth started getting to me, despite the fact that I love both Crank movies and Drive Angry 3D, which could safely be considered the three meth-addled dads to the newest bit of Nicolas Cage insanity. Still, I dig Nicolas Cage, in theory if not always in practice, especially as he continues his evolution to full-fledged self-parody.

So, I’m particularly delighted that Cage’s bonkers life is actually becoming the subject of not just any movie, but a comedy written by “State” alums Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon. I was a little disappointed that Cage wouldn’t actually be playing himself, then made excited by the mention of Jason Statham, then disappointed again once I realized that that’s just pure speculation on someone’s part.

When I first heard of the project, my mind instantly conjured images of Nic Cage as an action star, kicking ass and taking names on his way to recover his stolen issue of Action Comics #1. Upon further research, it doesn’t really look like that’s what this film is, but still: Nic Cage’s life + “Reno 911!” guys + Comics + Maybe Jason Statham = AWESOME in my book.
